You’re a Hero!

(The Author is a Curriculum Guidance Consultant empanelled with the Institute)

Amidst the chaos and frustration of being locked indoors and the endless uncertainty about when it will be safe for children to step outdoors, the UN has curated a wonderful book called MY HERO IS YOU (How Kids Can Fight Covid-19!).

The UNICEF collaborated with more than 50 organizations working in the humanitarian sector; the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and Save the Children- are some of these organizations involved in providing mental health and psychosocial support in emergency settings which have contributed.

The Book is for children between the ages of 6-11, and explains how children can protect themselves from the Virus as well as manage their emotions during this time of uncertainty.

Sara’s mother is a scientist who explains to her what the Corona Virus is; the little girl wants to become a hero to save the World from the Pandemic and that night she is paid a visit by Ario- fantasy creature who takes her on a journey.

The Book is to be read out loud by  parents or teachers, so that they can explain what its about to the kids.
